OLD MUTUAL's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE POSTPONED

The Saturday Night Live show featuring Goodluck and Pascal & Pearce, forming part of the Old Mutual Music at the Lake series, set to take place on Saturday 31st October at the Durban Botanic Gardens has been postponed. The decision was taken on Thursday by organizers to postpone the show due to the inclement weather predicted for Saturday afternoon and evening.

“All weather forecasts point towards the reality that it will be raining with thundershowers and wind on Saturday from 16h00 onwards into the evening. This coincides directly with when the show is set to take
place. We value the customer experience at our shows, and have therefore decided to postpone our last Saturday Night Live show until early next year as part of our 2016 concert series”, explained Stu Berry
from Impi Concerts.

All ticket holders will be provided with a full refund of tickets bought to date. Those who bought online will be refunded directly, those who bought via the Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre can visit the centre
and their refund will be processed.

“We’d like to thank Goodluck and Pascal & Pearce for their understanding and willingness to ensure that we seek a new date for this show. They had some great surprises in store for fans, and the weather would have only dampened those surprises, so we all felt it was best to be patient and set a new date” explained Berry. “At this stage we are looking to have these two groups open up our 2016 Series and the first Saturday Night LIVE event of the New Year.”

The Durban Botanic Gardens Trust would like to thank all patrons for their understanding in this decision and we look forward to staging the show under better weather conditions for the experience of all our
ticketholders. For any queries relating to refunds for tickets purchased via Webtickets, please contact 086 111 000 5.

KZN FASHION COUNCIL DESIGNERS FLY SA FLAG AT GHANA DESIGN AND FASHION WEEK

Accra, Ghana,

“A visitor dances, they do not sing”. This Ghanaian proverb describes perfectly the intentions of KwaZulu-Natal Fashion Council’s beneficiaries, Zama Mathe of Zarth Designs and Amanda Govender of Amanda May as they prepare to board the plane for this year’s Ghana Fashion and Design Week.

GFDW is a globally recognised contemporary international platform for commerce, envisioned to direct, lead and promote both emerging and established designers and creative entrepreneurs to a global audience. Facilitated by the KZN Fashion Council, Mathe and Govender will let their garments do their dancing when they showcase at GFDW this weekend, thanks to a sponsorship from the South African Department of Arts and Culture.
Zarth is a luxury brand that is distinguished by its stylistic originality combined with the superior sartorial content of its creations.

The KwaZulu-Natal Fashion Council, according to acting MD Nomonde Masoka, “is constantly seeking lucrative export platforms to benefit emerging talented local designers”. The NPO empowers its beneficiaries giving them invaluable competitive skills sets and business savviness to succeed in the cut-throat industry of international fashion.

GOODLUCK TO BRING A LITTLE MAGIC TO DURBAN BOTANIC GARDENS

Pictured : GoodLuck

Lovers of rock music can look forward to a spectacular and eclectic celebration of South African music by local electro-swing and dance band, GoodLuck, and DJ duo Pascal & Pearce on Sunday, 31 October at the Durban Botanic Gardens.
GoodLuck, consisting of Juliet Harding and Ben Peters, are famous for their hit ‘Taking it easy’ and have achieved nine top 10 radio singles, five number 1 hits, five SAMA award nominations and sold more than 1 million albums.
The duo behind Pascal & Pearce, Dave Pearce and Pascal Ellinas, are known for their energy and enthusiasm as well as their slamming, groovy and driving beats. Their sound can be described as a techno-influenced, drum & bass partnership. Apart from their debut album, Password, Pascal & Pearce have done official remixes for South African acts including Zebra & Giraffe, Locnville, GoodLuck and Goldfish, and performed at more than 50 top clubs. Their song ‘Disko Biskit’ was a hit in 2012, and garnered some international acclaim, including a number of remixes from top house DJs.

We are immensely proud that the Old Mutual Music at the Lake concerts have become a staple on the local music calendar and that we can help these artists do great things on such a prestigious stage. It’s a pleasure to welcome to the gardens the talented musicians from GoodLuck and Pascal & Pearce. These bands have proved a firm favourite with local audiences. With their irresistible dance melodies, they are without a doubt among the freshest and most original forces on the local music scene at the moment,’ says Bandile Mngoma, Old Mutual Sponsorship Manager.
The Old Mutual Music at the Lake concert series offers a superb line-up of performances in a beautiful garden setting, with sloping lawns that provide a natural amphitheatre where the sound and acoustics are great from wherever you throw down your blanket.
‘Old Mutual is proud to be associated with this series as it also enables people to give back:  funds raised from the ticket sales allow the Durban Botanic Garden Trust to assist the Durban Botanic Gardens to maintain its prime collection of natural assets,’ adds Mngoma.
